Pitt Model United Nations Club

I have been involved in the Model United Nations club at the University of Pittsburgh for around 3 years.  I participated in the club during my sophomore year and was elected to the position of Director of Internal Affairs for both my junior and senior years. The club discusses and debates international affairs with the goal of developing cooperative resolutions for global issues. The club also competes in collegiate Model United Nations conferences. As Director of Internal Affairs, I focus on new member recruitment and member retention. I plan social and recruitment events, as well as helping with general administrative tasks as a member of the executive board.

I am sad to be leaving this club behind as I move on from my undergraduate education, but I know that the skills I learned and the friendships I made will last a lifetime!

After School Mentoring with ARYSE and JFCS

I began volunteering with ARYSE/JFCS as an After School Mentor in the spring semester of my Senior year. This is an amazing organization that helps refugee families settle in Pittsburgh. I volunteer with children from kindergarten through eighth grade once a week. I help them with their homework as well as help facilitate group discussions about important topics such as bullying. They are able to share their experiences as refugees in the safe space of the program, getting support from their peers. We also have fun though, coloring, playing soccer, and overall getting silly. I love this program so much and have learned so much from the children over the weeks. I am looking forward to continuing to volunteer with the program for the foreseeable future.
