As a Korean-American student who grew up in a relatively homogenous community, I have always been interested in the intersectionalities between my American upbringing and the traditionalist views of my immigrant parents. This has increased my interest regarding different topics and issues, ultimately inspiring me to major in Political Science with a minor in Economics. Because of Pitt, I have also been able to compliment my academic goals with a Korean minor and Asian Studies Certificate. In addition, I have been able to explore my interests extracurricularly such as joining the Asian Students Alliance.
My specific interests and research topics include the development of an Asian-American identity, the socioeconomic differences between Asian and Asian-American communities, diverse representation within government, and the role of American exceptionalism in U.S. foreign policy.
