Jamie Nassur

My name is Jamie, and I am a senior Microbiology major with minors in Chemistry and History graduating in April of 2020! I chose to pursue a Global Studies Certificate focused on Peace, Conflict & Security. I hope to use the knowledge I have gained through the Global Studies Certificate to enhance my ability as a future physician in working with refugee populations fleeing war torn areas by understanding not only the healthcare necessities and accessibility of refugees but also the political and cultural dynamics that underly conflicts producing these vulnerable populations and thus their dire healthcare needs.

Phi Beta Kappa Junior Year Nominee
Phi Beta Kappa is the leading national honor society for students in the liberal arts and sciences. Membership is given to those few students who have achieved outstanding academic records in a broad liberal arts curriculum. Most Phi Beta Kappas are elected senior year, but the University of Pittsburgh Xi Chapter has designated a very few students with unusually outstanding records as Junior Phi Beta Kappas, a special honor. I was selected to be a member as an undergraduate junior.
