In each project, I aim to provide professional and accurate translation services, and often give consultations on how to best adapt content for a foreign audience from a cultural and linguistic standpoint.
This newsletter was published as the final project in the Fourth Year Korean course at the East Asian Languages & Literatures Department in the University of Pittsburgh. I led a team of interpreters made of of students from the University of Pittsburgh to provide interpretation services for Bereishit Dance Company’s performance at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh. Tasks which required interpretation between the American theater staff and Korean performers included light design, sound engineering, backstage setup, and communication with Pittsburgh Dance Council executives.
As an intern at the Asian Studies Center, I translated promotional information about the Center and its programs from English to Korea.
As the only Korean-speaking staff member, I led the negotiations and finalization of the guest contract for a Korean clothing designer, Haenuli, to appear at our flagship convention Tekko in 2017. Additionally, I managed the efforts to recruit multiple Korean/English translators to assist the guest during her stay in Pittsburgh.
