Learning an additional language has always been essential to developing my worldview and cultural competency, especially with my focuses on International Relations and Global Studies. I believe that interacting with the world in an international context requires a deep cultural understanding, which is obtained in part, by learning the language of a region.

With Latin America being my primary field of interest, I chose to gain a deeper understanding for the different facets of the Spanish language. In my future career as an attorney, I plan to assist and advocate for individuals in underrepresented communities and I believe that my job will be made easier and more rewarding if I am able to effectively communicate across multiple languages and dialects.
