Chiara Rigaud

I am a soon-to-be alumna of Pitt this coming Spring ’21! I will be graduating with a degree in Urban Studies with a concentration in Comparative International Urbanism, a Minor in Turkish, and a Global Studies Certificate in Health and Well-Being. All while being on the pre-medical track. My goal after I graduate is to obtain my MD/MPH because after having spent the majority of my college career focusing on community engagement and development, I’ve seen how public and global health play a much larger role in medicine. I want to spend more time understanding illness, disparities, and inequities while also working towards getting my medical degree. Once I get those degree’s I’d like to work for Doctors without Borders and nonprofit organizations such as the International Rescue Committee. Working with underserved populations to help aid in providing equity is something my career at Pitt thus far has helped prepare me for my future endeavors. Also, learning many languages such as Turkish and Portuguese allows me to get to know one’s culture a bit more and removes certain barriers!
