French at the B1 level
French at the B1 level
Learning a language other than your mother opens you up to a new group to communicate with. Language is crucial to being connected and interacting with the world. We, as humans, are social creature and have developed numerous languages to communicate with the people around us. I have found learning French to be eye-opening to French culture and their way of life. I hope to continue learning French past the B1 level and to reach fluency. I love visiting France so being able to speak with the locals is very important for me to be able to do. I have opportunity to travel to France three times, 2 of which were study abroad trips at Pitt, and loved every minute of it. My first trip, I took an immersive French course and learned so much so quick when I forced to only speak in French – no English. I felt super confident with my speaking skills after only 6 weeks in the program. I hope to attend a similar program where I feel entrenched in the language and the French culture.
